“Music has always been a huge part of life for me.
From a young age, my parents would take me to our local social club.
I would cover my ears at hearing the same 50’s to 70’s songs that were constantly being played over the crackling speakers.
Needless to say, I’d come to appreciate the classics later in life as many of them are still the staples of any good party.
Fast forward to my teenage years and I fell in love with the UK Garage scene.
Starting on pirate radio stations, and working my way up to playing in many of the major clubs across London.
It was fun while it lasted, but my musical tastes grew exponentially.
Before long, the thought of playing one genre of music for the whole night, became too repetitive.
The club and bar scene had lost some of it’s draw and I stepped away from the decks and became immersed in listening to new music.
I gained an appreciation for the classics I had grown up listening to.
Eventually, broadening my horizons to the point where I felt confident I could cater to almost any event.
Over the years it has become a lucky dip what I can found listening to from one day to the next.
Monday Mathew & The Atlas may just be firing out of my headphones.
Tuesday I could be in the mood for some Hip Hop and R&B with the likes of Jay Z, Frank Ocean and Usher making appearances.
Wednesday it might be time for the Indie bands to take over, with some Killers, Fratellis, Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys.
Thursday might bring about a day discovering new artists, and exploring genres I hadn’t previously known about.
Friday could be a free-for-all where anything goes.
Everything from Rudimental, Stevie Wonder, Hot Since 82, Aretha Franklin & Earth Wind and Fire.
I pride myself on having the ability to create the right atmosphere at the right time.
Be it a summer boho style garden wedding or an evening booking.
I always make sure the music is specifically tailored to the event at hand.
I achieve this by making sure I know exactly what the client wants before I set foot through the doors of the venue”
“I started DJ’ing at 15 years old, I had to learn the hard way on a set of old belt drive turntables.
Before long I had upgraded my equipment, and by 18 I was a regular at some of the best bars and clubs in London .
Passion for music
This passion for music and DJ’ing has been a theme that has since continued throughout my adult life
This passion has lead to me playing at 100’s of private events, including celebrity clients and even politicians.
I got to know Dan and Dave through a mutual friend who mentioned they had started Fox and Braces in 2017.
A company that differed a little from the norm.
Fox and Braces
The name alone intrigued me enough to look at the site and I instantly knew it was something I wanted to be part of.
I believed in giving people an alternative to the standard wedding DJ.
After sitting down with Dan and Dave and talking music for a few hours.
We all agreed that I would be able to add something extra to what had quickly become a growing business.
My music taste is about as varied as they come.
At heart, I still lock myself away in my music room and spend hours mixing House & Garage classics.
But my repoitore expands far beyond the music I grew up on.
I feel completely at home dropping the best of the 80’s, throwing in some Indie Bangers, adding in some Motown anthems.
In addition to the latest UK Top 40 or getting people going to some soulful funk.
Chilled out vibe
If it’s a more relaxed, chilled out vibe you are after, I can cater to this too.
Creating a welcoming and classy atmosphere with a selection of carefully selected acoustic and vocal tracks to see away a summers afternoon.
I take pride in what I do and what Fox and Braces stand for as a company and guarantee to give people what they hoped for on the day of their event”
Where it all began
“I have always been around music, passed on mainly from my Dad, who had a vinyl collection to match the best of them.
Varying from John Holt, The Stones, Bob Marley, David Bowie, the list goes on …
His taste was definitely as varied as is mine now.
As I hit my teens however, I was fully hooked on the UK house & garage scene.
I purchased my first pair of belt drive sound lab decks and away I went.
I lived in record shops, and spent every weekend chasing down the newest music and spent the rest of my free time mastering my craft behind the turntables.
I eventually upgraded my decks to Tecnhic 1200s and that took it all to another level.
These were the decks I would later use in numerous night clubs and parties.
Musically these days, I am not a one genre DJ, far from it in fact.
Love of music
It’s easy and somewhat of a clichè to say that I love all music , but I’ve always lived by the rule that if I like it, then I like it.
I can be listening to Mobb Deep one minute and the next minute be in the mood for some Motown classics.
Skip to the next day and my headphones will be blasting out some 80’s & 90’s classics.
I believe music has no boundaries.
There is certainly enough music out there for me to use so that I can make your wedding or party an event that pleases and appeals to everyone .
Myself and David, of Fox And Braces , are long standing friends, we’ve had many a mixing sessions over the 20 odd years we’ve known each other.
When Dave and Dan approached me to join their business, I said “YES!” without hesitation.
Joining Fox and Braces
Fox And Braces totally encapsulate me as a DJ as they too have a deep understanding and appreciation for music.
And more importantly, the same approach to customer events and their needs.
I am here to deliver what you specify but If however, you feel like you need some help or would rather me work off of a rough script, I am happy and confident to be able to deliver that too.
Whichever way it is planned I can guarantee people will remember the occasion”
